There are a number of questions that you should be asking yourself about getting a new iphone, like just who you should buy it from and exactly which model you should buy, the iphone 4 or the iphone 5.
Verizon has been the 600-pound gorilla during the smartphone marketplace for quite a while now, and their size seems to have doubled since the formal announcement was made that Verizon could finally sell the iphone. Now, a lot of people have to make up their minds as to which way to move.
For most people who have been with AT&T in the past with their iphone, there will be little question as to the wireless provider query: whenever possible, those people will move to Verizon because they are sick and tired of AT&T’s network and customer service. There is very little indeed to separate the Verizon iphone from the AT&T iphone at this moment, feature-wise, according to a MacNewsworld article, and in my opinion those will be evened out in a future iOS4(5? ) release.
All that really matters is how long your remaining contract is with AT&T and whether or not you’re prepared to pay your way out of it to get away. Remember we have heard little good from AT&T iphone owners over the past several years. The news has been almost solid bad.
When we talk about which iphone to get and when, the question becomes a little tougher. When you get a Verizon iphone now, you get a slightly redesigned iphone 4. Of course, that phone design are probably the basis for the iphone 5, since Apple mackintosh has gone to the trouble to redesign the case to avoid the problems of Antenna-gate. The innards may be different though, given the rumors about CPU, camera, dual GSM-CDMA bands, NFC buying, and all the rest.
The Verizon iphone 4 will be available in about a week. The Verizon iphone 5 will be available in about 5 months. The smart move may possibly be to wait until July and get all the new goodies, but some people will have a dis-satisfaction level so high with AT&T that they will flee the second they can and sit out the iphone 5 altogether in favor of getting Verizon now, then waiting for the iphone 6th. As for me, I’m working on an slightly different methodology to move from AT&T to Verizon in mid-contract, as soon as the iphone 5 is available. After i get that fully sorted out, I’ll share it with you.
