Apple has handed over the pre-release version of iphone 5 to the AT&T mobility division, which are the third party beta testers, responsible for the testing of Smartphones before their official debut.
The third party beta testers will carry out rigorous tests and as soon as they are done with the testing phase, the final tasks will be sorted out and Apple would then direct the manufacturers to start the production of thousands of new iphone 5 units so that the device could be timely shipped to millions of iphone fans around the globe.

According to ChipHazard, iphone 5 was handed over to AT&T beta testers on July 6. AT&T has started testing earlier than its normal schedule to avoid any antenna issues before the launch of the new iphone. iphone 4 was having some antenna issues e.g. Holding the iphone in your left hand crossing the black strip can result in worst case drop of 24 dBm signal. To avoid this issue, the location of antenna has been changed in the iphone 5. This testing will be useful in the successful launch of the new iphone 5 without any antenna issue.
It is also expected that the iphone 5 will be shown to the people on 5 September and will be launched for its customers after few weeks.
